Bachelor of Information Technology

Adelaide University, Adelaide, SA, Australia

About this program

Adelaide University's Bachelor of Information Technology runs a 72-unit, three-year structure split cleanly into thirds: 27 core units, a 27-unit major, and 18 units of free electives. The major choice does most of the work differentiating graduates: Software Development, Networking and Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are the most commonly taken.

Compared to the Bachelor of Computer Science, the IT degree leans more applied in its core, with less emphasis on algorithmic complexity and formal computation theory and more on systems integration, project delivery, and IT service management. It's aimed at graduates headed toward corporate IT departments and consultancies rather than pure software development houses.

Career paths the university lists include IT consultant, network administrator, cybersecurity analyst, systems analyst, and software developer. February and July intake, delivered mainly at Adelaide City Campus.
