Bachelor of Music
Adelaide University, Adelaide, SA, Australia
About this program
A three-year performance-focused music degree with a single structure and a choice of major: Classical Performance, Jazz Performance, Creative Practice, or Music Education. Core musicianship study runs alongside weekly one-on-one instrumental or vocal tuition and required ensemble work in orchestras, chamber groups, big bands and choirs, plus electives. Entry is by competitive audition, in person or by recording. An integrated four-year pathway combines the degree with the Master of Teaching (Secondary) for those aiming at classroom music teaching. Graduates work as performers, session and ensemble musicians, music directors, composers, private teachers and arts workers, often piecing together portfolio careers. It suits students with the instrumental or vocal standard to pass the audition who want conservatorium-style training inside a university.
