Associate Degree of Music Industry
Box Hill Institute, Melbourne, VIC, Australia
About this program
Box Hill Institute's Associate Degree of Music Industry is a real, TEQSA accredited award (renewal date 14 December 2027) built as the formal 2 year exit point from the institute's Bachelor of Music Industry, rather than a separately marketed standalone course; Box Hill's own Bachelor of Music Industry (Major in Performance) course page states explicitly: "Associate degree in Music Industry is an exit point after two years of full time study." There is no separate Associate Degree of Music Industry marketing page on boxhill.edu.au; its content is the first two years of the Bachelor's structure.
The first two years cover the Bachelor's full common core (which looks at the music industry from multiple angles including innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship), the first two years of major study in whichever of the degree's six pillars a student has chosen, and a slice of the degree's elective pool of over sixty subjects. Students taking the Performance major spend Year 1 on foundational music theory, ear training, instrumental technique and ensemble skills, then Year 2 stepping toward creative artistry through repertoire analysis and interpretation, instrumental lessons, and a weekly performance workshop applying aural and theoretical knowledge to contemporary repertoire.
Students reaching this exit point have had two years of access to Box Hill's studio facilities, its licensed 200+ capacity on campus music venue, industry standard writing and production suites, its Artist in Residence program, and the on campus Tremorverse Record label.
