Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, Australia
About this program
The Bachelor of International Security Studies is a three-year degree at ANU's Acton campus that explores the enduring problems of security and war through a broad lens, from large-scale conflict and strategic competition between states to environmental threats, terrorism, cybersecurity and the impact of new technology. Students gain the empirical knowledge and analytical skills to understand the history and causes of international conflict and the implications of security issues for Australia and the Asia-Pacific, and develop the communication skills to engage with policy and civil society solutions. It is well suited to careers in the Australian Government, such as diplomacy in Foreign Affairs and Trade, strategy in Defence, or analysis in the intelligence community. Graduates also work in research, risk consulting and international organisations.
