About this program
The Master of Teaching (Primary) is for graduates who already hold a bachelor's degree and want to move into primary school teaching, qualifying graduates to teach in Christian, independent and state school systems in Australia and overseas. It includes 60 days of Professional Experience, and is offered either as a regular semester only program or a fast tracked 1.3 year program with online intensive study periods.

Course structure
1 term of coursework
16 units, 96 credit points, over 4 semesters full time (or part time equivalent), each unit worth 6 credit points. Made up of 15 Education units (7 Core Education units, including EDUC50102 Understanding Students with Special Education Needs, EDUC50113 Exploring Indigenous Education, EDUC52102 Introduction to Learning and Teaching, EDUC52103 Managing the Primary Classroom; and 8 Curriculum and Pedagogical Studies units, including EDUC14102 Curriculum Studies, Teaching English I, EDUC14105 Curriculum Studies, Teaching Mathematics I, EDUC24107 Curriculum Studies, Teaching Science and Technology, EDUC54102 Curriculum Studies, Primary Creative Arts) plus 1 Professional Experience unit, EDPX30001. Two professional experience placement blocks total 60 days: a 20 consecutive day block in July to August, and a 40 consecutive day block either mid Year 2 (regular program) or at the end of the fast tracked program

Admissions
An Australian Bachelor's degree (or higher) that meets NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) content requirements as assessed by the Course Convenor, or a comparable overseas qualification. Applicants must submit the Personal Statement for Initial Teacher Training (PSITE) and must have achieved a Band 4 result in HSC Mathematics, or completed 1 unit of mathematics/numeracy in a prior undergraduate degree, or enrol in a bridging mathematics/numeracy unit.
