About this program
Bond University's Doctor of Medicine is the second, postgraduate stage of the Bond Medical Program, following the Bachelor of Medical Studies to give eligible graduates registration as a medical practitioner in Australia or New Zealand. As with the Bachelor, direct entry is limited to Australian citizens, permanent residents, Australian Humanitarian visa holders and New Zealand citizens; international students can still reach the Doctor of Medicine by first completing a recognised Bond pathway degree such as the Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Master of Occupational Therapy or Doctor of Physiotherapy and meeting the required GPA and prerequisites. Teaching continues the clinical immersion begun in year three of the Bachelor, working through 12 clinical rotations across hospital and community healthcare settings in areas including women's health, child health, mental health, surgery, emergency medicine and general practice, plus a selective and two elective or pre-internship placements in Australia or overseas. Graduates complete a research, professional or capstone project and portfolio, and are eligible for registration as a medical practitioner in any Australian state or territory, or in New Zealand.

Course structure
1 term of coursework
- An Extended Masters (Level 9) program delivered through clinical rotations in hospital and community healthcare settings alongside timetabled teaching sessions. Twelve clinical rotations across: Women's Health, Child Health, Mental Health, Community, Advanced Clinical Skills, Surgery, Emergency Department Medicine, General Practice, a Selective in a chosen sub-specialty area, and two Elective/pre-internship rotations undertaken in Australia or overseas. Assessment combines in-training assessment throughout the year with end-of-year written exams and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs). Students complete an MD project - a research-based project, a capstone experience, or a professionally focused project - culminating in a final report and presentation, plus a portfolio of work submitted at year end

Admissions
Entry to the Doctor of Medicine follows successful completion of the Bachelor of Medical Studies within the Bond Medical Program. Direct entry to the combined program is limited to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, Australian Humanitarian visa holders and New Zealand citizens; international students can join via a recognised Bond pathway degree (Bachelor of Biomedical Science in the pre-health professional major, Master of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physiotherapy, Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice, or Master of Healthcare Innovations) provided they meet the required GPA and prerequisites for entry to Year 2 of the Medical Program.
