Master of Arts (TESOL)
Bond University, Gold Coast, QLD, Australia
About this program
A three-semester master's (twelve subjects, intakes in January, May and September) in teaching English to speakers of other languages. It covers second language acquisition, applied linguistics, effective classroom and online teaching, language assessment design, curriculum development and research methods, and includes a roughly 30-hour teaching practicum with a minimum of six hours taught under the supervision of an experienced teacher.
Placement help is available on the Gold Coast; students elsewhere arrange their own, which can be in a school, a language centre or their own workplace. The degree does not qualify graduates to teach in Australian school systems, which requires an accredited teaching qualification. It suits current language teachers wanting an advanced credential, educators working with multilingual learners, and career changers moving into ESL teaching in Australia or overseas.
