- This is a genuine research degree with no coursework curriculum. Candidates complete an original supervised research project culminating in a thesis. Admission requires satisfying one of a specific set of eligibility criteria set out in Curtin's Statute No. 12 enrolment rules: a Master's degree by thesis
- a Bachelor's degree with First or Upper Second Class Honours
- a Bachelor's degree plus a Graduate Diploma or coursework Master's with a course-weighted average of at least 70% and demonstrated research capacity
- in exceptional circumstances, a Bachelor's degree with substantial relevant peer-reviewed publications, conference papers or research experience
- an equivalent qualification from another recognised institution
- or at least 6 months' full-time-equivalent enrolment in a research Master's with exceptional early-stage progress that can be converted to a Doctorate with Faculty Graduate Studies Committee approval. All applicants are interviewed prior to admission. The skills, experience and publications gained are described by Curtin as useful preparation for specialist clinical training, academic roles, or posts involving a research component
