About this program
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Queensland is a 3-year postgraduate specialist training program for qualified general dentists working toward specialist registration in fields such as orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral medicine or dento-maxillofacial radiology. Teaching and clinical placement take place at UQ's Oral Health Centre, a purpose-built $138 million facility on the Herston campus, with interdisciplinary patient care built into training from the first week. The periodontics stream is accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology, and the degree keeps a research focus running alongside clinical practice under academics with international standing in their specialty. Graduates move directly into specialist dental practice, working as orthodontists, periodontists, prosthodontists or dento-maxillofacial radiologists rather than as general dentists.

Admissions
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status. Hold a degree in dentistry from UQ (or equivalent) Have a minimum two years of graduate clinical experience. Hold general or limited registration with the Dental Board of Australia. You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification. Relevant disciplines for previous qualifications Hold an approved degree in dentistry from UQ (or equivalent) with a minimum two years of graduate clinical experience and be registered as a dentist with the Dental Board of Australia. Please note that due to limited places, entry is competitive and not all applicants who meet the entry requirements are offered a place.
