About this program
La Trobe's Doctor of Nursing is a professional doctorate for experienced nursing practitioners who want to enrich their practice through research in clinical or professional settings. The first year combines core and elective coursework building skills in research design, literature review, critical analysis and academic writing.
Candidates then pursue an independent, sustained investigation into a research problem relevant to nursing practice, culminating in a thesis of around 60,000 words. Applicants need current or eligible registration as a nurse and at least two years of professional practice.

Admissions
A four-year Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in nursing or a cognate field, with a weighted average mark of 70 or above from the last ten years; eligibility for registration as a registered nurse with AHPRA or an approved international equivalent; and at least two years of professional practice.
