About this program
La Trobe's Doctor of Clinical Science is a professional doctorate for practitioners across occupational therapy, physiotherapy, prosthetics and orthotics, podiatry, speech pathology, audiology, orthoptics, and food, nutrition and dietetics who want to extend their professional practice through an integrated program of theory, practice and research. The first year combines core and elective coursework building skills in research design, literature review, critical analysis and academic writing.
Candidates then pursue an independent, sustained investigation into a research problem relevant to their clinical field, applying these skills to clinically based professional projects and culminating in a thesis of around 60,000 words.

Admissions
A four-year Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in the same or a cognate professional domain, with a weighted average mark of 70 or above from the last ten years; eligibility for registration for professional practice in Australia where applicable; and at least two years of professional practice.
