About this program
Curtin University's Master of Advanced Practice degree. This course has been designed to meet changed health industry demands, both across the Australian health sector and globally, that require advanced practice clinicians, clinical leadership and clinical research skills in identified areas of healthcare. The first of its kind in Western Australia, this course combines specialisations in clinical practice with research practice. It is suitable for registered nurses, midwives, paramedics, oral health therapists, allied health professionals, and other healthcare practitioners who want to develop distinctive careers involving research activities in clinical settings. You will learn the skills of evidence-informed clinical practice, including relevant health-care policy standards and strategies that enable translation of evidence into practice. You will also explore qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research processes, and related ethical considerations, for applied health research and evaluation practices. The course duration is two semesters of full-time study or the equivalent part-time study for applicants who hold a Graduate Certificate in the speciality they are applying for. Applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree will complete four semesters of full-time study or the equivalent in part-time study. Master Degrees (Coursework) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for professional practice, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications.

Admissions
Applicants for the Master of Advanced Practice Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language standards. Applicants will require a Bachelor Degree, Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in their related field. Applicants must also hold three (3) years' experience in their related field post Bachelor degree. Enrolment can be full time or part time. Study plan can be negotiated. A part time study plan is essential for specialisations that are linked to employment. Applicants for a Master Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; Subject to the duration of the course applicants usually require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent (and may require relevant work experience), Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.
