Bachelor of Cyber Security

Deakin University, Melbourne/Geelong, VIC, Australia

About this program

Deakin's cyber security degree runs out of its Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation, and the course structure reflects that research base: units on computer crime and digital forensics sit alongside more conventional network security content, and the degree can be paired as a double degree with Criminology or Laws for students aiming at policy, investigative or legal cyber roles rather than purely technical ones. That double-degree option is a genuinely distinctive structural feature compared with a standalone technical cyber security degree.

The standard single degree runs 24 credit points over three years full-time, split across foundational computing units, core security subjects, and later electives that let students lean toward penetration testing/technical security or governance and forensics. Deakin has also run national cyber security competitions and industry partnerships that regularly feed into student projects, giving students exposure to real incident-response style scenarios rather than only textbook case studies.
