Bachelor of Social Work
Federation University Australia, Ballarat, VIC, Australia
About this program
The Bachelor of Social Work at Federation University Australia is a four-year degree offered on campus at Berwick, Gippsland and Mt Helen (Ballarat), with intakes in March and July. It has provisional accreditation with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The course was co-designed with local industry partners to address a shortage of social workers in the region.
Students complete 140 days of placement in social work settings and learn to work with people facing substance use, mental health problems, palliative care, child protection and youth services. Where possible, Federation works with students' existing employers so they can keep working while they study. Graduates work in government, non-government and community organisations in counselling, advocacy, community development, policy and research, and experienced social workers in clinical roles can later apply to become an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
