Bachelor of Biomedicine (Honours)

Build on your successes in the Bachelor of Biomedicine by completing Honours to enhance essential employability skills or take your first step to a career in research, academia and beyond. You'll conduct your own research project under the mentorship of La Trobe's expert researchers, building on the knowledge and accomplishments obtained in your Bachelor's degree, and gaining exposure to specialised techniques and scientific advances. Honours in Biomedicine gives you the opportunity to specialise in the following disciplines: animal physiology and health agriculture biochemistry and cell biology chemistry environment and genetics human anatomy, physiology and pharmacology microbiology science education Projects are located at the Melbourne and Albury-Wodonga La Trobe campuses and at external research institutes such as the Baker Institute and Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute. By completing Honours, you'll be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge in your field and, through your professional behaviours, the values that shape the work of a professional scientist. You'll also have advanced skills in designing and successfully implementing scientific investigations, analysing and interpreting data, and presenting your findings to scientific audiences. You'll also gain an edge in an increasingly competitive job market, have the opportunity to advance to further coursework or research at Masters level or, for outstanding achievers, direct entry into a PhD. The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 8 - Bachelor Degree Honours.
