About this program
Gain the clinical skills and experience you need to become a registered nurse (RN) in just two years with La Trobe's Master of Nursing Practice. In this degree, you'll build on your existing Bachelor's degree qualification - in any discipline - and develop the clinical knowledge and skills you'll need to upskill or change careers in the health sector. You'll learn the theory from leading clinicians and academics at the La Trobe Rural Health School and then apply it in the real world with clinical placements (800 hours) in leading regional and rural hospitals and healthcare providers. By studying La Trobe's Master of Nursing Practice, you will: develop foundational knowledge in primary care, acute care, chronic illness, Indigenous health, mental health, rehabilitation, community and emergency care, biosciences and research gain in-demand skills in leadership, time management, critical thinking and communication apply what you've learned in our modern nursing simulation labs study closer to home at our Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo and Mildura Campuses graduate ready to support and strengthen your local community as a registered nurse (RN). The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9 - Masters Degree.

Admissions
Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent). Some students are required to complete a bridging program designed to support your readiness for healthcare studies. This program will include either one or both of the following two streams: Stream 1: Bridging Course in Physiology and Anatomy (Required only for students whose previous undergraduate degree is non-cognate.) Stream 2: Sociocultural Concepts in Health Care (Required for all international students, regardless of academic background.) If your prior degree is non-cognate , you must complete both Stream 1 and Stream 2 . If your degree is cognate , you are still required to complete Stream 2 . You will be notified of which bridging courses you are required to complete upon application. Note: Details relating to cost are outlined in the links to each stream above and may be subject to change.
