About this program
The Bachelor of Environment and Conservation examines how people interact with the natural world, the environmental processes that sustain life on Earth, and the pressures that threaten planetary health. It provides a comprehensive, interdisciplinary foundation in environmental sciences, management, and biological conservation. You will develop broad capability across environmental systems and sustainability, alongside depth in a chosen major in Environmental Sciences and Management or Biodiversity and Conservation. This degree will equip you with the scientific knowledge, analytical capability, and practical experience needed to confront and solve complex environmental issues. Strong research-led learning in ecology, conservation, and environmental processes is paired with hands-on laboratory and field training. You will gain an appreciation of the biological, ecological, cultural, ethical, and management dimensions of environmental and conservation science, and learn to evaluate evidence, design solutions, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Hands-on experiences throughout your degree consolidate professional skills and prepare you for an impactful career in the environmental and conservation sectors. Fieldwork is a central component of the program, enabling you to gain real-world experience in ecological research, environmental assessment, and conservation management. Fieldtrip costs are typically $300-$500. This is a Macquarie University (Sydney) course.
