About this program
UQ's Bachelor of Environmental Management (Honours) trains students to design and manage solutions to environmental challenges, taught by academics who also advise organisations including the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, the World Health Organization and The Nature Conservancy. The degree combines natural sciences with social and economic disciplines, decision-making and policy analysis, and includes a full semester of placement and practical experience alongside hands-on field and lab-based learning across Queensland's biodiversity hotspots, from coral reefs to World Heritage rainforests. Core courses include cultural heritage management, environmental impact assessment and conservation planning and management, with the embedded honours component adding a research dimension. Graduates typically move into roles such as environmental management consultant, sustainability adviser, natural resources manager or environmental planner in government or private consultancies.
