About this program
The Master of Speech and Language Pathology (MSLP) is an AQF Level 9 coursework award delivered via in the Department of Linguistics in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences. The MSLP provides graduates with a professional qualification in speech pathology and it is accredited by the Speech Pathology Association of Australia. The degree has been specifically designed to develop the following four graduate capabilities: Capability 1 Scientist and Scholar: Graduates will be scientists and scholars who can think critically and apply advanced knowledge and skills to drive evidence-based speech pathology practice. Capability 2 Practitioner: Graduates will be competent speech pathologists who are prepared for delivering person-centred care, and can communicate effectively and thoughtfully. Capability 3 Engaged Citizen: Graduates will be socially and culturally safe practitioners who find innovative ways to optimise communication and swallowing for all individuals and communities. Capability 4 Professional: Graduates will be ethical and reflective speech pathologists able to who are able to work collaboratively and with purpose within teams. This is a Macquarie University (Sydney) course.

Admissions
The minimum admission requirements for the Master of Speech and Language Pathology are as follows: AQF Level 7 bachelor's qualification (or recognised equivalent) with a WAM of 65; and Recent successful completion of units of study in at least five of the following topical areas: Phonetics, Phonology, Grammar/Syntax, Psycholinguistics, Semantics, Morphology, Language Development, Psychology; and Satisfactory personal statement detailing your understanding of speech pathology as it is practised in Australia, your reasons for desiring to work as a speech pathologist, and any other factors relevant to your application. OR AQF Level 7 bachelor's qualification (or recognised equivalent) with a WAM of 65; and Relevant professional work experience in Australia (totaling two years FTE) within the past five years; and Satisfactory Casper score; and Satisfactory personal statement detailing your understanding of speech pathology as it is practised in Australia, your reasons for desiring to work as a speech pathologist, the relevance of your previous professional work experience, and any other factors relevant to your application. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee an offer of admission. Offers are made on a competitive basis and cannot be deferred.
