Bachelor of Biomedical Science

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Bachelor of Biomedical Science gives students access to the Biomedicine Discovery Institute, a genuine research hub, taught by working biomedical researchers rather than only classroom-focused academic staff. Core subjects cover anatomy, physiology and biochemistry, how microorganisms cause disease, how the body defends against infection, pharmacological treatment of disease, and the epidemiology of disease patterns, giving students a comprehensive picture of the biomedical sciences underpinning both healthcare and research. Notably, Monash's Doctor of Medicine program reserves 70 percent of its places for Monash Biomedical Science graduates, making this degree a genuine pathway into medicine as well as biomedical research and industry careers in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and clinical trials. Eight electives let students go deeper into a biomedical specialty, pick up a language or business skills, or complete an industry placement or research project, and a built-in Professional Development Program supports career planning throughout the degree rather than leaving it until graduation.
