Graduate Certificate of Laws

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Graduate Certificate of Laws lets qualified lawyers and law graduates deepen their knowledge in a specific area of legal practice or scholarship, drawing on the full range of Monash Law's postgraduate program to build a course tailored to their own professional needs. Rather than following a fixed curriculum, students investigate contemporary legal issues and evaluate complex problems from theoretical, global and interdisciplinary perspectives, choosing electives that map onto their actual practice area or career interests. It suits practising lawyers who want formal postgraduate credit in a specialisation without committing to a full Master of Laws, as well as those testing which area of law they want to pursue further study in. Because units are drawn from the same pool used across Monash's law master's programs, credit typically carries forward if a student later enrols in the Graduate Diploma of Laws or Master of Laws.
