About this program
Monash's Graduate Diploma of Australian Law exists specifically to help lawyers qualified in other jurisdictions meet the academic requirements for admission to legal practice in Victoria, rather than serving as a general legal studies qualification. The course has three components: an introduction to the Australian legal system, the core law units required for local admission, and law electives, with the specific credit points and units required determined by the jurisdiction where the student originally qualified. Because requirements vary so much by country of origin, applicants need assessment by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board under the Uniform Principles for Assessing Qualifications of Overseas Applicants before their exact study plan is set. - The course comprises 48 credit points structured into three parts. Part A Foundation studies (6 points), Part B Core studies (up to 42 points) and Part C Specified elective studies (6 or more if required) Units are 6 point unless otherwise stated. Part A.
