About this program
The Graduate Diploma of Occupational and Environmental Health trains working health professionals, scientists and OHS managers to identify and manage workplace and community health hazards, rather than treating illness after the fact. Delivered off-campus with compulsory block attendance each semester, the course suits people who need to keep working while they study, including medical practitioners, nurses, allied health staff and existing OHS managers looking to formalise their expertise. Coursework covers hazard identification, exposure control and the systematic prevention of injury and disease across workplace and community environments, aiming to build the judgement needed to initiate and evaluate risk management interventions independently rather than simply follow protocols. Admissions
An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a non-cognate discipline with at least a pass (50%) average AND 1 year of work experience in the field of occupational health and/or safety. A current CV highlighting work experience in occupational health and/or safety must be provided. OR An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline* with at least a pass (50%) average. *Relevant cognate disciples include: medical, nursing, allied health, (other health related degree e.g. psychology, public health, environmental health, paramedic, imaging (radiology, nuclear medicine), biomedical engineering, dietetics/nutrition, pharmacy, social work, medical science/biomedical science/immunology, health science, laboratory science, science, and health economics).
