About this program
The Master of Nursing Practice is Monash's graduate-entry pathway into nursing registration, built for people who already hold a non-nursing undergraduate degree and want to become a Registered Nurse without repeating a full undergraduate program from scratch. It is explicitly not designed for people who are already nurses looking to advance their practice or pursue research, since the whole curriculum is built around getting career-changers to entry-level registration standard. Teaching follows a student-centred, problem-solving approach that builds clinical skills, scientific knowledge and professional judgement for contemporary Australian healthcare settings, with the course structured so graduates can apply directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia for registration on completion. It suits graduates from science, arts or other fields who've decided nursing is their next career, particularly those who want to leverage an existing degree rather than start an undergraduate nursing qualification, and who are prepared for an intensive, practice-focused course rather than a research-oriented postgraduate nursing degree.

Units are 12 points unless otherwise stated. Part A. An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent excluding an Australian Bachelor of Nursing) with at least a credit (60%) average All applicants must have completed either: one 6 credit point unit of study in human anatomy /physiology or a related area from any recognised tertiary institution the Monash Human Biology short course which has been assessed as equivalent to this requirement. Applicants who are already registered nurses in Australia are not eligible for admission to this course.
