Master of Philosophy - MUARC
Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia
About this program
Monash's Master of Philosophy through the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) is a research-only degree where students independently investigate a self-formulated research problem in road safety, injury prevention or transport-related accident research, working under supervision from MUARC's research staff rather than completing set coursework units. Because the degree is entirely research-driven, the specific focus depends on the individual student's chosen topic within MUARC's areas of expertise, which span vehicle safety, road user behaviour, injury epidemiology and transport policy. Entry requires strong prior academic performance, typically an honours degree with an upper second-class result or equivalent qualifications judged suitable by the faculty. It suits graduates from engineering, public health, psychology or transport-related backgrounds who have a genuine research interest in road safety or accident prevention and are considering further research study or a research career in this specialised, applied field.
