About this program
Monash's Master of TESOL prepares educators and other professionals for careers teaching English to speakers of other languages, connecting language teaching theory directly to evidence-based classroom practice rather than treating the two separately. The course suits a wide range of students, from teachers already working in English language schools to career-changers moving into language education for the first time, and it explicitly prepares graduates for an internationalised job market rather than assuming a single national teaching context. Past graduates have gone on to work as language teachers, translators, and in TESOL leadership roles including directors of studies, language school founders and curriculum developers, both in Australia and internationally. It's worth noting the course does not provide an initial teaching qualification for general classroom teaching; students seeking that should look at the Faculty of Education's Master of Teaching course instead.
