About this program
The Bachelor of Biomedical Science is taught within the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct. The degree covers how the human body works, disease processes, diagnostics and laboratory science, building analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to healthcare and biomedical research. The Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct is home to three hospitals and several medical research centres, including the Australian National Phenome Centre, and students use modern laboratories and industry-standard equipment as part of the course. Students choose from six majors, Biochemistry and Nutrition, Biomedicine, Clinical Laboratory Science, Genetics and Biotechnology, Microbiology and Immunology, or Pharmacology and Toxicology, and can also complete a double major combining two areas. The degree itself is a science qualification rather than a registered health profession, and many graduates go on to further study or roles in laboratory science, research or health-related fields.

Admissions
A minimum ATAR (or equivalent selection rank) of 70 is required for direct entry, or an International Baccalaureate Diploma total score of 24 or higher. Applicants who do not meet this can gain entry via Murdoch's foundation, bridging and enabling pathway programs, or via recognised prior study, VET qualifications or relevant work experience assessed case by case.
