About this program
The Bachelor of Criminology examines why offences occur, how they can be prevented and how the criminal justice system responds to victims and offenders, drawing on social, psychological, legal and scientific perspectives. Students can contribute to real homicide and missing persons investigations through the Major Crimes Review initiative, mentored by experienced criminologists to analyse cases and evaluate justice processes. The degree can be tailored through majors in Criminal Behaviour, Crime Science or Legal Studies, with Crime Science the only major of its kind in Australia, and students can complete a double major or combine criminology with another discipline such as biology, toxicology or psychology. Criminology is not a standard skilled migration occupation on its own, and graduates typically move into policy, government or private-sector analyst roles rather than a defined migration pathway; police and forensic roles in Australia usually require citizenship or permanent residency to apply. This course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.

Admissions
A minimum ATAR (or equivalent selection rank) of 70 is required for direct entry, or an International Baccalaureate Diploma total score of 24 or higher. Applicants who do not meet this can gain entry via Murdoch's foundation, bridging and enabling pathway programs, or via recognised prior study, VET qualifications or relevant work experience assessed case by case.
