About this program
The Bachelor of Food Science and Nutrition covers how food is produced, processed and used to support healthy communities, including food chemistry, microbiology, food safety and human nutrition. Students learn how nutrients function in the body, how food products are developed, and how safe, high-quality food is produced for different populations, combining scientific theory with laboratory and food production practice. The course uses the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct and specialised teaching facilities, with industry-standard equipment for analysing food composition and assessing quality and safety against regulatory standards. Graduates are prepared for roles contributing to safe, nutritious food products and public health in the food industry.

Admissions
A minimum ATAR (or equivalent selection rank) of 70 is required for direct entry, or an International Baccalaureate Diploma total score of 24 or higher. Applicants who do not meet this can gain entry via Murdoch's foundation, bridging and enabling pathway programs, or via recognised prior study, VET qualifications or relevant work experience assessed case by case.
