About this program
The Bachelor of Forensic Science is the only undergraduate course of its kind in Western Australia, building a foundation in biology, chemistry and analytical science alongside forensic techniques used in real-world investigations. Students can specialise in Forensic Biology or Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology, with the option to add Forensic Investigation as a second major. Practical experience includes applying forensic techniques to simulated crime scenes and analysing evidence using laboratory methods. The course is taught within the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct, home to several medical research institutes including the Australian National Phenome Centre. Forensic science is not a standard skilled migration occupation by itself, and graduates typically move into policy, government or private-sector analyst roles; police and forensic roles in Australia usually require citizenship or permanent residency to apply. The degree also provides a foundation for further study.

Admissions
A minimum ATAR (or equivalent selection rank) of 70 is required for direct entry, or an International Baccalaureate Diploma total score of 24 or higher. Applicants who do not meet this can gain entry via Murdoch's foundation, bridging and enabling pathway programs, or via recognised prior study, VET qualifications or relevant work experience assessed case by case.
