About this program
The Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine covers disease processes and how they are investigated through diagnostic testing, including safely handling and analysing clinical specimens such as blood, tissue and urine using industry-standard techniques. The course covers biochemistry, haematology, immunology, microbiology, histopathology, diagnostic genomics and transfusion science. Students gain hands-on laboratory experience within the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct, surrounded by hospitals and research facilities, and complete placements in diagnostic pathology laboratories. Graduates are prepared for technical and analytical roles in hospitals and pathology laboratories, or further study in biomedical science, clinical diagnostics or research.

- Core topics covered in this course include: Understand disease processes and how they are diagnosed through laboratory testing. Perform and interpret diagnostic tests across areas such as biochemistry

Admissions
A minimum ATAR (or equivalent selection rank) of 70 is required for direct entry, or an International Baccalaureate Diploma total score of 24 or higher. Applicants who do not meet this can gain entry via Murdoch's foundation, bridging and enabling pathway programs, or via recognised prior study, VET qualifications or relevant work experience assessed case by case.
