About this program
The Bachelor of Laws Honours (LLB(Hons)) is an exit award only. Students in Murdoch's Law degree include both school leavers and mature age students, and because the course is a professional preparation, a significant proportion of it is compulsory, giving all students a grounding in the legal system and the abilities required for professional legal practice, including practising those skills in simulated settings such as the Law School's Clinical Education Centre at Rockingham. Students build on this foundation through advanced units in areas such as corporate and commercial law, environmental law, family law, international law, alternative dispute resolution and human rights law.

Course structure
1 term of coursework
- Students apply for entry into Honours immediately before commencing their final 24 credit points of law study. The award of Honours is available on the basis of distinguished achievement across the Honours year. The required units are LLB580 (Honours Thesis in Law) and LLB582 (Legal Research Methods for Honours and Masters)
- the student's Honours program must also include any remaining required law units (such as LLB450 Civil Procedure, LLB452 Corporations Law and LLB468 Ethics and Professional Responsibility) or, if none remain, law specific elective units. Total: 96 credit points, 4 years full-time (AQF Level 8, Bachelor Honours Degree)

On both MLTSSL and CSOL, but a positive skills assessment is not the same as being able to practise. You must first be admitted to an Australian state legal profession, which for an overseas or JD graduate means passing the assessed academic subjects, completing Practical Legal Training, and being admitted by the state Supreme Court, before the occupation is realistically usable for a visa.
