About this program
Plant biosecurity manages the threat posed by pests and diseases that damage food crops and the natural environment, and is central to world trade, environmental protection and agriculture as global trade and movement of people increases. The course covers plant biosecurity measures such as risk analysis, quarantine and surveillance used to stop the entry and spread of exotic organisms, rapid emergency response to an incursion, and how to manage pest organisms that become established in a new region. Biosecurity is a growing field for professionals in agriculture, the environment, and international and domestic trade, and the course also suits students pursuing careers in food production and postharvest management.
