Master of Biosecurity

Murdoch University, Perth, WA, Australia

About this program

A postgraduate degree in biosecurity, which Murdoch says was the first master's of its kind in Australia. The content was developed with input from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States, so it covers international biosecurity requirements as well as domestic ones, and teaches students to identify, assess and mitigate biosecurity risks and to develop, implement and evaluate biosecurity policy and procedure. Delivery is flexible: full-time or part-time, and designed so students can study from another country while working. Graduates work in technical, research and administrative roles in quarantine and pest and disease management with state agriculture departments, state and federal biosecurity agencies, Plant Health Australia, Animal Health Australia, private industry and international equivalents. It suits people already working in agriculture, environment or border roles who want a formal biosecurity qualification.
