About this program
With the world population expected to reach over 8 billion by 2030, managing food security is a growing global challenge, and food and feed production industries face increasing pressure on availability and access. International trade and travel raise the risk of spreading pests and diseases, making biosecurity central to protecting the food supply chain. The course covers what food security is, the pillars that underpin it, and the current and future challenges involved, with a focus on the long-term strategies needed to secure food supply for present and future generations without harming the environment. Students examine the policies underpinning food security and trade in a global context, and the concept of producing, protecting and providing food sustainably. This course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.

Admissions
Completion of an AQF level 7 qualification, in the plant, food, ecological, environmental or animal sciences or an equivalent field as determined by the Academic Chair.
