About this program
This course builds leadership and management skills for people already working in health care, including those in quality, safety, and risk roles within community, mental health, primary, and aged care settings who want to move into management, and those already in middle management who want to progress further. It has a strong focus on safety and quality, reflecting the growing need for leadership and governance around patient safety, and covers both technical and interpersonal skills relevant to a clinical context, including leadership, managerial skills, financial management in health care, policy, and human factors. Students complete project work applying course content to a clinical setting, with the professional-practice focus grounded in research evidence. As a management qualification rather than a clinical or registered health profession, it does not carry the same direct skilled-migration pathway as nursing; graduates typically move into health-sector management and governance roles. This course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.
