About this program
A postgraduate degree in infectious disease surveillance and outbreak control, taught by infectious disease researchers with practical laboratory experience on Murdoch's Perth campus, home to molecular research centres including the Antimicrobial Resistance and Infectious Disease Laboratory and the Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases. It is offered in two forms: an Advanced Practice version with a six-month industry project or dissertation, and an Advanced Practice and Innovation version with a longer 12-month industry project or a six-month project plus a six-month dissertation. Entry normally requires a Bachelor of Science in a cognate discipline, or another AQF Level 7 qualification with biological or chemical science units, assessed by the Academic Chair. Graduates work in public health surveillance, outbreak response, diagnostic and research roles. It suits science graduates heading into communicable disease control.
