About this program
A three-year creative arts degree delivered with TAFE Queensland at the Brisbane South Bank campus, so students take University of Canberra units alongside TAFE Queensland studio training. It is offered as a set of named specialisations rather than one generalist degree: Visual Arts, Contemporary Music Practice, Applied Fashion, Acting and Performance, and Drama and Performance. Each combines hands-on practice, industry-standard facilities and portfolio or repertoire development with the theory and professional context of the creative industries. Graduates work as practising artists, musicians, designers, actors and performers, and in adjacent production, teaching and arts-organisation roles, usually as portfolio careers. It suits students who want conservatoire-style or studio-based creative training and are based in or willing to study in Brisbane.

- University of Canberra does not offer a single generic 'Bachelor of Creative Industries' course of its own. Students enrol in one of its specialisation coded variants
- ARB401delivered with TAFE Queensland at the Brisbane South Bank campus: Acting and Performance

- and Visual Arts. Each variant shares a common Core Major in Professional and Creative Industries (24 credit points)
- including Professional Practice 1 and 2 (Work Integrated Learning)

- ARB403but differs in its Specialist Major. The Contemporary Music Practice variant

- adds a 24 credit point Specialist Major in Contemporary Music Practice covering units such as Synthesis and Sampling

- plus 24 credit points of open electives drawn from TAFE Queensland or UC Bruce units. The degree is 72 credit points

Admissions
Admission is based on an entrance rank, achieved through Year 12 ATAR, a diploma pathway, another Australian qualification, work experience or an overseas qualification, plus an audition or portfolio outcome for most specialisations. For the Contemporary Music Practice variant (ARB403), applicants who meet the minimum entrance rank are required to complete an audition as part of the admission process, at a date and time set out in the offer letter. Alternative entry pathways are also available.
