Graduate Certificate: Country as Teacher

University of Canberra, Canberra, ACT, Australia

Apply

About this program

A specialist 12 credit point graduate certificate, three units delivered part-time over about eighteen months, that helps registered teachers embed First Nations knowledge and Country-based pedagogy in their classrooms. The units move from relating with Country practice, to co-designing units of work, to implementing and evaluating them, using a both-ways approach that combines Western and Aboriginal ways of knowing and teaching. Entry requires current teacher registration at proficient level or equivalent, and enrolment is generally on a cohort basis through partnerships rather than individual application. It suits practising teachers and school leaders who want to embed Indigenous perspectives authentically.
