About this program
The University of Canberra's Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound is a 24 credit point course, taken part-time over about two years in blended mode, that builds clinical sonography competence through coursework and supervised clinical practice. Completing it is the qualification that makes graduates eligible for accreditation with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry as an accredited medical sonographer, following on from the Graduate Certificate in Ultrasound Studies. Students generally need access to a clinical placement site. It suits people committed to a career in sonography who have completed the entry-level certificate.

Admissions
Applicants for the Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound must meet the following criteria: . A) a completed bachelor degree in medical radiation science; or . B) a completed bachelor degree in any field and successful completion of at least two units of degree level anatomy and physiology; . C) provide evidence of an ultrasound training position under the supervision of an Accredited Medical Sonographer. Please note that if you have not secured a training position under the supervision of an Accredited Medical Sonographer, you can apply for the Graduate Certificate in Ultrasound Studies.
