About this program

A two-year graduate-entry master's open specifically to graduates of UC's Bachelor of Vision Science. It is accredited by the Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand, and completing both degrees makes graduates eligible to apply for registration as an optometrist with the Optometry Board of Australia, including autonomous prescribing of ocular therapeutics.

Clinical placements are full-time and generally involve interstate travel at the student's own cost, and students buy a set of specialist equipment (around A$5,000) before placement. It suits Vision Science students continuing straight through to clinical qualification, with graduates working in private practice, hospitals, community eye care and research.
