About this program
A two-year, 48 credit point master's in teaching English to speakers of other languages and foreign language teaching, delivered in blended mode. The coursework covers second language acquisition, TESOL and language teaching methodology, curriculum and assessment, and includes a work integrated learning component of at least 60 hours with Working with Vulnerable People registration required for the practice unit. No prior teaching qualification or experience is required to enter, only a completed bachelor's degree. Note that registration to teach in Australian schools is a separate process and applicants who want school registration should confirm the current requirements with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute. Graduates work as English language teachers, language teachers, adult and community educators, curriculum advisers and in international education. It suits people moving into language teaching from another background.
