About this program
The University of Canberra's Master of TESOL and Foreign Language Teaching is a two-year, 48 credit point degree in teaching English to speakers of other languages and foreign language teaching, delivered in blended mode. The coursework covers second language acquisition, TESOL and language teaching methodology, curriculum and assessment, and includes a work integrated learning component of at least 60 hours with Working with Vulnerable People registration required for the practice unit. No prior teaching qualification or experience is required to enter, only a completed bachelor's degree. Note that registration to teach in Australian schools is a separate process and applicants who want school registration should confirm the current requirements with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute. Graduates work as English language teachers, language teachers, adult and community educators, curriculum advisers and in international education. It suits people moving into language teaching from another background.

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent as approved by the University Admissions Committee. No teaching experience is required. . Students planning to undertake the combined vertical Bachelor/Master program must meet the English Language requirements for the Master before enrolling in any of the G or PG level units.
