About this program

The Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne is a three-year degree with more than 40 majors across science, biomedicine, engineering, IT and mathematics. The first year is deliberately broad, so students can sample several fields before choosing a major, and breadth subjects in areas such as business, languages and communication sit alongside the science core. Students complete 24 subjects in total, starting with the discovery subject Today's Science, Tomorrow's World.
Learning combines lectures with laboratory work, fieldwork and research. Students can take the Science and Technology Internship or the Industry Internship subject, each with at least 80 hours of work placement, and every student is matched with an academic adviser to help plan study and graduate options. Students also get access to career workshops, job listings, interview practice and industry events, and graduates move into careers across science, health, engineering and technology or into graduate study.
