Doctor of Medicine

University of Melbourne, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is the University of Melbourne's four-year graduate-entry medical degree, taken on campus at Parkville with a January intake. It combines biomedical and clinical science with early and sustained clinical placements through partnerships with leading hospitals and research institutes, and offers a choice of pathways and discovery subjects so students can pursue research or other interests. Students develop patient assessment and clinical reasoning, health advocacy, ethics, communication and leadership. The program is accredited by the Australian Medical Council, so graduates are eligible to apply for provisional registration with the Medical Board of Australia and enter an internship. Graduates go on to prevocational training and specialty training across hospital medicine, general practice, surgery, psychiatry, research and public health.
