About this program
The Doctor of Optometry at the University of Melbourne, the first course of its kind in the southern hemisphere, covers the basic and applied optical, visual and biomedical sciences underpinning optometry, fully accredited by the Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand. Students complete 400 credit points across four years, including a clinically relevant research project and clinical training at metropolitan, rural and overseas sites in the final year.

Admissions
To be considered for entry into this course, you must have: an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with studies to have been completed within 10 years of commencing this degree OR An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in any discipline completed more than 10 years ago, AND a graduate diploma, master's degree or PhD (or equivalent) completed within 10 years of commencing this degree.
