About this program
The Master of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne is delivered wholly online by the Department of Psychiatry, giving medical practitioners an integrated understanding of the evidence-based aetiology, diagnosis, formulation, assessment, management and prognosis of major psychiatric disorders. Students develop an understanding of psychological and scientific theories alongside the genetic and psycho-social context of patient presentations, and the evolution of human behaviour across the life cycle.
The course prepares medical practitioners for professional exams and further study pathways toward consultant psychiatrist roles, delivering outstanding clinical care in mental health.

Admissions
To be considered for entry into this course, you must: Have completed a Doctor of Medicine (AQF9) or equivalent. Or Have completed a bachelor degree (AQF7) or equivalent in a cognate (relevant) discipline. Cognate (relevant) disciplines include: Medicine. And Have one year of documented relevant experience as a practising doctor. And Hold current medical registration in the country of practice.
