About this program
The Bachelor of Social Work is a degree at the St Lucia campus that prepares students to practise as qualified social workers supporting individuals, families, groups and communities to achieve equitable access to opportunities and resources. Students develop skills to work with people who are socially excluded or in distress, combining core knowledge in social work, social policy and research with professional practice in areas such as health and ageing, children, youth and families, and mental health. The degree includes 1,000 hours of supervised placement across settings including hospitals and public and private agencies, with options to apply for rural, interstate or international placements. Graduates work in health and hospital social work, child protection and family services, mental health, community development, and policy and advocacy.
