Graduate Certificate in Economics Studies
University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia
About this program
The Graduate Certificate in Economic Studies at the University of Queensland is a six month, entry level qualification for people who want a grounding in economic analysis without committing to a full postgraduate degree. It suits career changers, professionals chasing a promotion, and graduates from non-economics disciplines who need an analytical toolkit for policy, finance or business roles. Students study foundational microeconomics and macroeconomics alongside mathematical techniques and statistics for business and economics, delivered through lectures, tutorials, seminars and workshops. Because the certificate stacks directly into UQ's Master of Economics, it works as a low risk first step for people unsure whether a longer degree is worth the investment, since credit for completed courses carries forward if they continue. Graduates typically move into policy analyst, consultant or junior economist roles across government, health and private industry in Australia, drawing on the quantitative reasoning skills the program builds from day one.
