About this program
The Graduate Certificate in Molecular Biology is a half-year postgraduate program at UQ's St Lucia campus for scientists building high-level knowledge and laboratory skills in modern molecular biology. Students master techniques such as electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction, endonuclease mapping and expression vectors, and develop advanced knowledge of genes and proteins, genome sequencing, recombinant DNA technology and macromolecular structure, with training in bioinformatics, molecular genetics and immunology. Graduates work in laboratory research, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and further postgraduate study.

Admissions
To be eligible for entry, you'll need: a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, with at least one course in chemistry or biology, or 2 years full-time equivalent, relevant work experience (see below). You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.5 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification. Relevant work experience Relevant work experience includes work in biotechnology, science, medicine, biomedical science, pharmacy, bioinformatics, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and biological chemistry.
