About this program
The Graduate Diploma in Economics is a one-year postgraduate program at UQ's St Lucia campus for graduates without an economics background. Students take foundation courses in microeconomics and macroeconomics, mathematical techniques and statistics, plus an elective from areas such as environmental economics, health economics and economic development, building critical thinking, logic and analytical skills. It can lead into the Master of Economics. Graduates work as analysts and advisers across government, finance, consulting and business.
The course takes 1 year of full-time study. The English language requirement is IELTS Academic overall 6.5. Admission: To be eligible for entry, you'll need: the Graduate Certificate in Economic Studies from UQ, or a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.

Admissions
To be eligible for entry, you'll need: the Graduate Certificate in Economic Studies from UQ, or a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline. You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.
